Thirty miles southeast of North Carolina's border with Tennessee and located near the magical Great Smoky Mountains, Arden is an unincorporated community that has long enticed nature lovers. Nestled between Skyland and Fletcher, this town sits right near the Henderson County line.
Home to a moderate population of 20,605 and a great place to raise a family due to a healthy economy, Arden has a median income of just over $60,000 and a median age of 40. Homes in the area have a median cost of above $269,000, with values appreciating an average of 3.85% in the last 10 years.

Arden and the surrounding Asheville Metro area are home to some of the best public schools in the state. For an advanced education, a number of nearby colleges offer programs that rival some of the best in the nation. Arden hosts two private schools within city limits: The Arden Christian School (a Baptist school serving 5-11 grade students) and the Nativity Preschool and Kindergarten (early childhood education offered at an evangelical Lutheran church located off Hendersonville Rd).
Fun Facts
Wonder how Arden got its name? This mountain town is named after the Forest of Ardenne, an English forest referred to in Shakespeare's comedic play “As You Like It." A resort town that attracts wealthy vacationers looking to escape the summer heat in the lowlands, Arden has made a name for itself as a popular tourist destination. The Asheville region (including Arden) was originally established as a “health resort.” In fact, eight of our U.S. presidents have vacationed in Arden!
